Jean Paul Gaultier's Fall Couture 2012

Fall couture 2012 appears to be somewhat the starting point for me in terms of couture, and for the first time, i perused with greater observance. With technology facilitating the seamless communication between fashion and its enthusiasts, i was able to 'finger' through Jean Paul Gaultier's collection with much intrigue via Style.com iPhone application. And if there was any designer who is still presently able to candidly explore 'queer culture' with ease and theatrical stylization, Jean Paul Gaultier would be the only knowing candidate. This time, Gaultier referred to Peter Doherty's acting pursuit (debut?) in the film Confession of a Child of the Century, and employed male models for his couture display. Debauchery, indulgence and perversion were at the forefront of things, and you can't help but be left magnetized by the male characters on stage (At this, weren't the clothes just mere extensions?). They communicated visually, a language that suggested a heady pursuit for sex and no hold barred attempts for ultimate gratification. But what is sin when beauty seem to be the only thing left wafting through, serenading those unguarded? It made me ponder on Rumi's saying -- 'No one is grown up except those free of Desire'. And here, 'grown up' aptly suggest a breakthrough; a crossing of an ambiguous threshold, a side that promises a weightless and transparent freedom. Care for a last sip before a greater embark?
